The integration of optimally dimensioned renewable energies into the installation where the electricity grid is already present can offer interesting savings, beyond the environmental benefits. Through this integration, the consumer will be able to decide to use the electricity that he produces himself, knowing that he has the support of the electrical grid; and he will even be able to inject possible surplus energy into the grid, thus being able to obtain an economic remuneration.
The network electricity bill is a major cost that is paid every month. A technical review (see Energy Audit section) may find inefficiencies in procurement and consumption, the correction of which will avoid the associated cost overruns. However, this is only a first step. In many cases, especially in almost all rural areas, the incorporation of renewable generation, so-called self-consumption, can bring significant economic savings and increase security of supply. All this, in addition to the associated environmental benefits.
If designed properly, incorporating renewable generation into a facility or building will reduce energy costs in several ways. On the one hand, the energy it produces will reduce the consumption of the network and therefore the electricity consumption bill. On the other hand, the power contracted (and paid for) to the grid can be reduced. Finally, we can compensate, or even sell it to the network, the surplus energy produced by our system and not used.
The appropriate design must include multiple factors: What is the economically ideal quantity of photovoltaic panels to be installed; where they are located, taking into account technical and aesthetic criteria; whether or not accumulation is incorporated; the control and monitoring system, etc.
